Отмечает 25 лет сольной карьеры.

CELLO AGAIN, ROBBIE
Robbie Williams recording new greatest hits album with an orchestra and will tour this year

From Simon Boyle's Bizarre column

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is one of the most successful British musicians of all time and now he is making sure everyone knows it – by working on a greatest hits album.

I can reveal the star has been re-recording some of his biggest songs, with a full orchestra, to celebrate 25 years since the release of his debut solo album, Life Thru A Lens.

Robbie Williams is recording a new greatest hits album with an orchestra and will tour this year.

With the number of huge hits he has notched up over the years, he will quickly remind people of his success.

A source said: “Robbie is coming back with a bang.

“This greatest hits record is going to be his classics with a big band feel to them.

“Robbie’s voice is still sensational and when he is backed by a full orchestra it is going to be really impactful.

“Marking this milestone with an amazing new greatest hits record feels really special.”

Robbie said earlier this year he was planning to go out on tour before the end of 2022, which is expected to coincide with the release of the new collection.

Those close to the singer, who has had seven No1 singles and 13 No1 albums since leaving Take That in 1995, said he is determined to tour sooner rather than later.

My source added: “Robbie has big dreams and he wants this to happen as quickly as possible.

“The plan is to hit the road at the end of the year.”

Robbie was gutted after his residency at Las Vegas’ Encore Theater was cut short in 2020 because of the pandemic.

He said it was that disappointment which was driving him to get back out there playing live shows.

Robbie first opened up at the start of the year about making his comeback and now it sounds like the plans are finally in motion.

If anyone can teach the young stars of today about putting on an unforgettable show, it’s our Robbie.

Robbie Williams working on new greatest hits album

The 'Rock DJ' hitmaker - who previously released 'Greatest Hits' in 2004 and 'In and Out of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990-2010' - is working on another best of compilation to celebrate 25 years since the release of his debut solo LP 'Life Thru A Lens' and is re-recording some of his most-loved singles with a full orchestra.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: “Robbie is coming back with a bang.

“This greatest hits record is going to be his classics with a big band feel to them.

“Robbie’s voice is still sensational and when he is backed by a full orchestra it is going to be really impactful.

“This coming September marks 25 years since Robbie released 'Life Thru A Lens', in 1997.

“Marking this milestone with an amazing new greatest hits record feels really special.”

The former Take That singer is also said to be hoping to embark on a tour in support of the record at some point this year.

The insider added: “Robbie has big dreams and he wants this to happen as quickly as possible.

“The plan is to hit the road at the end of the year.”

Robbie has been busy recently as last month, he teamed up with producers Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis to release dance track 'Sway' under the name Lufthaus and the trio promised they had more material coming.

The group said: "This project has been keeping us busy in the studio throughout the pandemic, so we’re delighted to now be releasing the first single.

“We’ve purposely kept Lufthaus unrevealed, so we’re looking forward to releasing more music and revealing more material over the coming months.”

Robbie also shared that he a wealth of material on his computer “that won’t see the light of day” for years.

He said:“Sometimes I have songs that sit on my computer for five years, like ‘Candy’, for example, I had that for three years.

“There is stuff that’s on my computer now that I wrote two years ago that probably won’t see the light of day for another two years.”

Robbie Williams digs into his darker days for inspiration on new album XXV: ‘My career hasn’t been as good since I’ve been happy’
Tom Stichbury
Tuesday 7 Jun 2022 9:52 am

Robbie Williams says he is looking back at his darker days to relight the fire under his music career.

In an interview with Guilty Pleasures, the Let Me Entertain You singer discussed the inspiration behind his new tune Lost, from upcoming album XXV, in celebration of his 25 years as a solo artist.

‘I’d go on these enormous benders, high-octane and enjoyable, and then they were hell. I quite often used to get on a train at Euston and get picked up by mum at Stoke station.

‘There’s one particular time, I got off just with one shoe. I don’t where I lost the other shoe. I’d been up for a few days, then my mum puts me to bed and feeds me,’ he recalled.

‘It’s that desolate place of, “Oh my god, everything is completely out of control.” And sadness and depression. But I was saying, my career hasn’t been as good since I got happy, so I’ve had to revisit a bit of sadness and hopefully something will happen.’

Former Take That star Rob then shed light on his biopic Better Man, directed by The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey and starring newcomer Jonno Davies as his younger self.

‘Jonno is just rocking it, absolutely rocking it. Before he got there, they showed me some footage of him doing rehearsals, and it was like, “Wow, that’s it.”

‘I haven’t actually seen him do any of the deep, dark stuff. I think this is an over-18s movie, blood and guts and drugs and sex and drink and rock’n’roll, losing yourself and finding yourself,’ he teased.

The 48-year-old will also star in the flick – ‘The bit I do in the movie is coming-of-middle age’ – and addressed reports he will appear as a, er, CGI monkey.

Robbie: ‘My career hasn’t been as good since I got happy, so I’ve had to revisit a bit of sadness and hopefully something will happen’ (Picture: Eamonn McCormack/Getty Images)
‘I don’t know if it is yet,’ he said, adding: ‘For f***’s sake, how long is it until I can say what it is… apparently I’m not a monkey!’

Meanwhile, at the weekend, the Robster performed an Oasis cover at his homecoming gig at Vale Park in Stoke-on-Trent – but he ruled out a future collaboration with either of the Gallagher brothers following their famous feud in the 90s.
‘Would I like that? Yes. Would they like that? They detest the idea, so there it is,’ he smiled.

Robbie Williams teases “blood and guts, 18 rated” biopic
The star spoke to Rolling Stone UK at a launch event for ‘XXV’, a new record which sees him rework his best-known songs with the Metropole Orkest to mark 25 years as a solo star

Robbie Williams has teased that his upcoming biopic will be a no-holds barred look at the singer’s rollercoaster life.

The singer has travelled to Melbourne in recent months to shoot scenes for upcoming movie Better Man, which is directed by The Greatest Showman‘s Michael Gracey.

Asked about progress on the project so far, Williams hailed the performance of upcoming British actor Jonno Davies, who portrays his younger self in the project. It is believed that the singer will then portray his older self in later scenes.

“He’s absolutely rocking it. They showed me a bit of him doing rehearsals and I was like ‘oh wow!’ that’s it,” Williams told Rolling Stone UK and selected press in London yesterday.

Teasing a no-holds barred look at his life, he added: “I haven’t actually seen him [Davies] do any of the deep dark stuff in the movie. Because this is an over 18s movie, I think. It’s blood & guts and drugs and sex and drink and rock and roll and losing yourself and finding yourself.”

Williams also refused to deny reports that the film will, bizarrely, see him depicted as a CGI monkey for sections of it.

Speaking at a Q&A later in the day, he added: “I went to Melbourne to film my bits and it was absolutely incredible. And weird… [like] a glitch in the Matrix. I’m in a make-up room and the guy that’s playing my dad’s there, the woman that’s playing my mum’s there and the lady that’s playing my grandma’s there.”

Williams was speaking in central London ahead of the launch of his latest album ‘XXV’, which marks 25 years of his solo stardom and will arrive on September 9 via Columbia Records. The new album sees the singer teaming up with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest to deliver new orchestral recordings of his most famous songs – with everything from ‘Angels’ to ‘Rock DJ’ receiving a radical re-imagining.

The album also features new track ‘Lost’, a soul-searching ballad that sees Robbie sing: ““I lost my place in life / I lost my point of view”.

Asked about the track’s deep themes, he said: “When I used to go on these benders that were high octane and enjoyable and then suddenly hell, I’d quite often used to get on a train at Euston and get picked up by my mum at Stoke station.

“There’s one particular time when I remember getting off at Stoke station with just one shoe, I don’t know where I’d lost the other shoe. I’d been up for a few days, I was put to bed and my mum feeds me. [The song] is kind of like that desolate place of ‘oh my god, everything is completely out of control’. It’s sadness and depression.”

He quipped: “But I was just saying, my career hasn’t been as good since I got happy, so I’ve had to revisit a bit of sadness and hopefully something will happen!”

Elsewhere, last weekend saw Robbie return to Stoke for a huge coming show to 20,000 fans at Port Vale stadium.

“That show was absolutely immense and it was how an audience used to behaved when we were younger.” he added.

“At a certain point when the singer goes ‘put your hands in the air’, if you’re of a certain age now you just go ‘Nah! I’m not gonna put my hands in the air. Or they’ll do it for a bit and put their hands down.

“This one felt like Knebworth. It was like old me and an old audience that knew every word. They responded to every whim that I had and it’s so easy when an audience is like that. It’s an old showbiz adage but it’s true, I’m only as good as the audience allows me to be. And they allowed me to be epic the other night.”

XXV arrives on September 9 via Columbia Records.

No Regrets XXV

https://forumupload.ru/uploads/0015/ec/4b/13/958842.jpg

Хорошая новая версия No Regrets с оркестром получилась. И вот как раз на эту тему есть замечание в новом интервью Irish Times.

---

Robbie Williams and Beethoven AI: Superstar releases new version of "Angels" with Deutsche Telekom

29

Long announced, now finally published. The artificial intelligence-generated Beethoven version of Angels 🎻🎤
How do you like this version? 🤔😃
"Robbie Williams made the ultimate leap into the pop Olympus in 1997 with the single "Angels". 25 years later, the British superstar presents a new, unique version in cooperation with Telekom. He is "accompanied" by Ludwig van Beethoven.
For the project, Telekom used the artificial intelligence that completed the classical master's 10th symphony in 2021. This made it possible to arrange a new version of the song by Beethoven and the "Angels" co-writers Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers. The song also contains parts of the "Moonlight Sonata"."

Released: September 9

Robbie Williams recruits the Metropole Orkest to breathe new life into his biggest tracks and best-loved recordings across his ‘XXV’ orchestral greatest hits collection.

Celebrating 25 years as a solo artist, the collection features 18 reworkings of cuts from the former Take That star’s complete discography, ranging from one of his earliest solo releases Angels through to Love My Life, along with the brand new number Lost.

Opening with Robbie’s signature hit Let Me Entertain You, the impact of the orchestra is instant, with The Netherlands collective elevating the tracks to new heights, with a live instrumentation that soars while breathing new life into the material. It’s a natural fit for the drama of the first track, but one that adapts throughout the set depending on the varying musical styles and lyrical themes on offer.

For example, 2010 cut Candy is reborn with a swing edge, while underrated gems like Tripping get a chance to shine. The effect is similar on classics such as the massive ballad Feel, with the new recordings highlighting the timelessness of the songs.

You Might Also Like

Also featured on ‘XXV’ is Robbie’s first UK solo No. 1, the jubilant Millennium, the Top 10 hits Strong and No Regrets, and his second solo UK chart-topper, She’s The One – all released on his 1998 album, ‘I’ve Been Expecting You’.

Although celebrating his latest milestone, the compilation doesn’t quite stretch the span of Robbie’s solo output, with his first two No. 2 hits – Freedom and Old Before I Die missing, along with other choice omissions including the No. 1 singles Somethin’ Stupid and Radio.

With Kylie Minogue drafted in to re-record vocals for a new rendition of Kids, its also surprising that Robbie chose not to reunite with former bandmate Gary Barlow on a fresh re-recording of 2010’s Shame. However, as he himself says, ‘XXV’ is less about his biggest commercial successes and more the moments from his career that he’s most proud of.

“I’m so excited to announce my new album ‘XXV’ which celebrates many of my favourite songs from the past 25 years,” says the musician. “Each track has a special place in my heart so it was a real thrill to record them again with the Metropole Orkest. Can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

That’s evident from a closer look at the tracklist; closing the LP is album cut Nobody Someday, which originally appeared as the B-side to Feel, while up in the opening trio of songs is Love My Life, the second single from Robbie’s 2016 long-player ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’ that stalled at No. 22 in the charts. However, both have personal significance – particularly the latter, which was written as a message of positivity to his children in light of the challenges that Robbie faced throughout his own youth.

While many orchestral albums drastically reinterpret the material, Robbie’s originals fare well as orchestral recordings and maintain the essence of the originals, and what stands out most of all is his powerful vocals on each track, which after three decades in the industry remain in fine form.

Both the standard and deluxe albums feature the brand new track Lost – a moving song in classic Robbie style with poignant lyrics, piano elements and soaring strings – while a deluxe album includes three more original tracks: Disco Symphony, More Than This, and The World And Her Mother.

The new material is the cherry on an already impressive set, particularly in light of the six year wait since Robbie released his most recent non-festive album back in 2016.

In the era of streaming, the concept of a greatest hits album is becoming increasingly obsolete, with fans demanding more creative approaches to the classic format that warrant their attention. So while orchestral rerecordings seem to be the avenue of choice right now, for Robbie it’s a path paved with gold that marries his classic sound with nuances found in his swing repertoire, celebrating the past 25 years and opening the door to the next era in his career.

‘XXV’ is available now.
